Menu Planning

These one-week menus can help with your meal planning, shopping and budgeting. Each menu reinforces the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which encourage a healthy and well-balanced diet. Several healthy recipes are included for each week, which give cooking instructions and tips to help you along the way.

Each one-week menu is meant to feed a family of four (based on a standard 2,000 calorie diet for each person). Your family may need more or less food than the menu suggests, so you might need to add additional servings or save leftovers for another meal or snack. Go to www.mypyramid.gov to determine your family's caloric needs.

Complete grocery shopping lists are included for each menu, and all have been designed to be able to be purchased using the USDA’s Thrifty Plan to help you stretch your food dollars.
