About the Recipes on This Site
Recipes on this web site, Healthy Recipes, have been taste-tested by Oregon State University Extension faculty, paraprofessionals, and volunteers, and staff and volunteers from Oregon Food Bank and its member agencies.
Nutrition information is provided for all of our recipes, reinforcing the Dietary Guidelines for Americans as part of a healthy lifestyle. Our goal is to help individuals and families balance the foods they eat throughout the day or week to help reduce risk of diet-related disease. We also have included ideas for ingredient substitutions that better match the Dietary Guidelines.
Our recipes utilize low-cost ingredients, gleaned and commodity foods, and other emergency foods. Although donated foods are typically low cost, sometimes foods that are more costly in the retail setting are donated in bulk to help families needing emergency foods. Some of these foods are included in our recipes.
There are many links to other sites outside of our own, including sites that offer recipes. We have not tested recipes outside of our own site.
