About the Healthy Recipes Web Site
This web site is intended to help families and individuals plan meals and prepare tasty, low-cost foods that are quick and easy. It also is a resource for educators, and agency and food bank staff.
Nutrition information is provided for all of our recipes, reinforcing the Dietary Guidelines for Americans as part of a healthy lifestyle. Our goal is to help individuals and families balance the foods they eat throughout the day or week to help reduce risk of diet-related disease. We have also included ideas for ingredient substitutions that better match the Dietary Guidelines.
Our recipes utilize low-cost ingredients, gleaned and commodity foods, and other emergency foods. Recipes on our web site have been taste-tested by Oregon State University Extension faculty, paraprofessionals, and volunteers, and staff and volunteers from Oregon Food Bank and their member agencies.
